Meet the Team

CrossFit Wylie is home to the area’s most experienced coaches.

Kelly McKinney

Owner / Coach

Kelly has had a lifelong passion for health and fitness.  She has a degree in Psychology from Baylor University, is a certified nutrition coach, and is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer.  After spending 20 years in the big corporate gyms and being bored with the workouts and not seeing the results she wanted, she decided to try CrossFit.  She instantly fell in love with the programming and community.  Wanting to provide the CrossFit methodology in such a fun and supportive environment is what led her into gym ownership.  She thrives on helping and seeing others improve and witnessing the bonds that are created here at CrossFit Wylie.

RJ Teague

Coach / Kids Class Coach / Personal Trainer

RJ has had a long and convoluted journey to find a career in health and fitness. She played sports growing up, mostly softball, tennis and swimming. She has always enjoyed teaching, coaching, helping others reach their goals or discover they are capable of doing something they never thought they would be able to achieve.  Before finding CrossFit, she was a Certified Recovery Specialist for Airrosti Rehab Centers in Uptown Dallas with Dr. Matt Yocom DC.  She has a background and experience in biomechanics, functional movement patterns, rehab and corrective exercise. She’s also a nutrition coach and has her Pn1 certification through Precision Nutrition. She’s a Texas State referee for USA Powerlifting and is USAW L1 certified.

As a full-time weightlifter now, she takes a lot of joy in coaching the sport. She’s been part of the CrossFit community since 2012. She did CrossFit competitively for a few years before diving into competitive powerlifting and weightlifting. She’s coached CrossFit for 7 years now, is a personal trainer, coaches a handful of powerlifting and weightlifting athletes both locally and remotely and works with a handful of local youth/teen/junior athletes on sport specific training for sports like baseball, football and swimming. Her passion is coaching strength sports and sport specific strength training. She’s been in many gyms over the years, CrossFit or otherwise, and is happy and excited to be part of the family at CrossFit Wylie.

Justin Ponce

Coach / Physical Therapist

Justin has always had a passion for exercise and fitness, and that is what eventually led him to the CrossFit community five years ago. Joining the CrossFit community has not only helped improve his fitness, but has helped him improve all aspects of his life. CrossFit has changed my life for the better. He became a coach/trainer to help bring that to the Wylie community. Outside of the Crossfit gym, he is also a Doctor of Physical Therapy that incorporates functional movements, fitness, and a holistic approach to helping people get out of pain. He runs part of his practice inside of CrossFit Wylie. He also helps teach at the South College Doctor of Physical Therapy program, and a continuing education company Institute of Clinical Excellence. He loves what he does.  He loves being able to combine his physical therapy practice and help all those who are looking to not only improve their health and fitness, but their lives.
